QBench August 11, 2025 Product Release Notes

From enhanced batch creation options to more robust data collision detection and richer customization in the Customer Portal, this release packs improvements that streamline collaboration, strengthen data control, and boost flexibility across the platform.

Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)

  • Cloned Sample Lab ID: New “Clone Lab ID” option ensures traceability of cloned Samples. See details below.
  • Data Collision Detection on Order Updates: Prevent accidental data overwrites on Orders. See details below.
  • Create Batch from Batch > Tests Tab: Quickly add selected Tests to a new or child Batch directly from the Batch page. See details below.
  • Disable Cloning Orders in Customer Portal v2: New setting allows LIMS Admins to restrict cloning from the portal. See details below.
  • Bulk Clone Orders: Save time by cloning multiple Orders from the Order List page. See details below.
  • Auto Assign Followers to Orders: Keep key stakeholders in the loop by auto-following new Orders. See details below.
  • Rich Text Fields with Defaults in Customer Portal v2 Order Requests: Make complex order instructions easier with rich formatting and pre-filled values. See details below.
  • CAD & Euro Currency Support in Billing: Expanded billing options for global users. See details below.
  • Improved Border Formatting on Worksheets: Border formatting no longer clears other selections, allowing precise cell formatting. See details below.

Sample Management

  • Cloned Sample Identifier Enhancements: When cloning a Sample, users can now optionally retain and extend the original Lab ID using a new “Clone Lab ID” checkbox. The system intelligently appends -1, -2, etc., based on existing clones, improving traceability and reducing manual renaming.

Orders

  • Data Collision Detection for Order Updates: Prompts to detect and resolve data conflicts when multiple users edit the same Order. If a change has occurred since you loaded the Order, you’ll be prompted to reconcile differences before saving—helping prevent accidental data loss and overwrites.
  • Bulk Clone Orders: Users can now select multiple Orders from the Orders List page and clone them all at once. This feature streamlines workflows where duplicate Orders are frequently needed.
  • Auto Assign Followers to Orders: LIMS Admins can now configure default users who will automatically follow all new Orders. Followers receive updates and notifications about Order activity, ensuring better team visibility and coordination.

Batches

  • Create New Batch from Batch Details > Tests Tab: Users can now select Tests on the Batch > Tests tab and add them to a new or child Batch directly from the Action menu. Optional checkboxes allow linking as a child batch and including associated Samples. This mirrors the existing functionality on the Test List page and enhances batch configuration flexibility.

Customer Portal v2

  • Disable Cloning Orders in Customer Portal: A new portal setting—“Enable Order Request Cloning”—gives LIMS Admins control over whether portal users can clone Orders. When disabled, the cloning option is hidden in the portal UI, and attempts to use the clone API will be rejected.
  • Rich Text Fields with Default Values in Order Requests: Rich Text fields on Order Request forms now support default values. These fields allow for rich formatting and retain values through form navigation.

Billing

  • CAD and Euro Currency Options: Canadian Dollar (CAD - $) and Euro (EUR - €) currencies have been added as options in Billing Settings. When selected, all billing fields and formats throughout the application—including Customer Portal v2—reflect the chosen currency.

Dynamic Worksheets

  • Formula Bar for Dynamic Worksheets: A new Formula Bar is now available at the top of Dynamic Worksheets. Users can easily edit formulas, receive auto-suggestions (e.g., typing =SU will suggest =SUM), and view existing formulas in selected cells. Read-only cells remain protected, and the bar stays persistent across worksheet tabs and page resizes.
  • Improved Border Formatting on Worksheets: When applying borders to cells, previous selections no longer get overwritten. Users can now layer multiple borders (e.g., left and right) without losing formatting precision, resulting in cleaner worksheet visuals and better rendering on reports.
