QBench February 1, 2026 Product Release Notes

This release delivers several high-impact enhancements to the Customer Portal, expanded visibility for linked Samples, improved display of Order revision history, and greater control over user notifications and worksheet logic. These updates focus on making QBench more intuitive, powerful, and user-friendly for both lab users and their customers.

Are you a QBench customer with ideas for new features? We’d love to hear them. Use the "Submit Feedback" link in your user dropdown menu to submit your ideas and vote on feature requests. The requests with the most votes get considered first in our roadmap planning.

Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)

  • Linked Sample visibility in Customer Portal: Linked Samples now display parent Sample field values and are searchable by ID. See details below.
  • Auto-follow setting for new Portal users: New Portal users can now automatically follow all Orders. See details below.
  • Improved visibility for Order revision notes: Revision Notes are now easier to see and understand in the Order Details view. See details below.
  • Trigger Source-level automations from the Customer Portal: Automations can now trigger when Sources are created or modified in CPv2. See details below.

Analytics - Plus, and Pro!

  • Pin dashboards to your QBench homepage: You can now set any Analytics dashboard as your homepage for faster access to the insights you care about most. From the dashboard’s three-dot menu, select "Set as home" to pin it. The selected dashboard will appear directly on the QBench homepage. A "Go to dashboard" button also appears, allowing users to jump straight into the full Analytics module. This feature is available to customers with an Analytics Plus or Pro subscription.

Customer Portal v2

  • Linked Sample visibility in Customer Portal: Searching by Sample ID in CPv2 now returns Orders containing both parent and linked Samples. When viewing an Order, linked Samples display the same configured field values as their parent Sample in LIMS. This provides better visibility for customers working with related Samples across multiple Orders.
  • Auto-follow setting for new Portal users: A new setting enables Admins to automatically subscribe all newly created or converted Portal users to follow every new Order created for their Customer. This helps ensure users receive notifications about Order activity without needing manual setup or configuration.
  • Trigger Source-level automations from the Customer Portal: You can now enable Source-level Automations to run when a Source is created or updated via CPv2. A new checkbox allows these Automations to trigger from the portal, with safeguards to prevent changes to Samples from other Customers. This supports use cases like auto-generating display names for new patients submitted through Order Requests.

Orders

  • Improved visibility for Order revision notes: When an Order includes Revision Notes, users will now see a hoverable info icon in the Order Details header that displays the note content. The icon is only shown when notes exist, and the tooltip updates in real time when notes are changed. The notes field itself remains visible if any revisions were requested, making it easier to track and understand changes.

Dynamic Worksheets

  • Retrieve Samples by value inside worksheets: A new helper method get_sample_by_value(field_name, value) has been added to the Order model. It allows Dynamic Worksheets to retrieve the first Sample from an Order that matches a specific field and value. This is especially useful for aggregating test data across Samples when generating custom reports or analytics views. Whether you're looking up values by Sample name, dropdown field, or timestamp, this method gives you greater control over how data is pulled into a worksheet.
