QBench May 27, 2024 Product Release Notes

Automations, Email triggers, Invoice Line Item linking, embedded BI dashboards—you wanted it, you got it! We’re grateful for all your input and help in shaping QBench into the best possible platform for your labs.

Are you a QBench customer with ideas for new features? We’d love to hear them. Use the "Submit Feedback" link in your user dropdown menu to submit your ideas and vote on feature requests. The requests with the most votes get considered first in our roadmap planning.

What’s New:

Features from Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)

  • You can now update a range of cells using a Worksheet Automation. See details below.
  • You can now trigger an email to a Customer Portal User or Contact when an Order Request is approved. See details below.
  • You can now automatically link Invoice Line Items to a QuickBooks Service Item. See details below.
  • You can now exclude Sub Samples from the Invoice description when a QBench Invoice is synced to QuickBooks. See details below.
  • You can now Embed Tableau Dashboards directly inside your QBench Dashboard. See details below.

Automations

  • You can now update a range of cells using a Worksheet Automation. You can enter a range of cells or a named cell that consists of a range of cells and use an Automation to update a different range of cells or a named cell in the target Worksheet. This allows you to sync more data between worksheets (for instance, moving data from a Batch to a Test Worksheet) with fewer Automations as you no longer need an Automation to copy over one cell at a time.
  • You can now clear a range of cells in a Dynamic Worksheet using an Automation.

Billing

  • Billing Admins can now sync an Invoice to QuickBooks and automatically link the Invoice Line Items to a QuickBooks Service Item. Note: it only links if the QBench Invoice Item Name exactly matches a Service Item in QuickBooks. This saves you from having to manually link non-Assay Line Items to existing Service Items, improving your billing data.
  • You can now (optionally) exclude Sub Samples from the Invoice description when a QBench Invoice is synced to QuickBooks. You can turn this on by adding the following keys {“set_description_on_invoice": true, sync_parent_samples_only”: false} in the QuickBooks Additional Configurations, which is located on the Developer Settings page.

Emails

  • You can now trigger an email to Customer Portal Users when an Order Request is approved. This allows you to notify the Requestor(s) on the Order that their Order was approved and set expectations for when it will be worked on.

BI (Business Intelligence) Integrations

  • You can now Embed Tableau Dashboards directly inside your QBench Dashboard.

Quality of Life Enhancements / Bug Fixes

  • We fixed a bug with the Order Request Modified Automation not working consistently with a Trigger of Order Request Status moving from Draft to Submitted
  • We fixed a bug with the Test Worksheets summary table where cells with the value of "None" were displayed as a blank string instead of the value of “None.”
  • We fixed a bug with Dropdown Multi-fields not copying over in the "Create Sub-Sample" Automation.
  • We have added back the ability to select multiple Sub-Samples on the Sub-Sample tab of the Sample Detail page using the “shift-select” shortcut.

A special treat for those of you who read all the way here: Why are chemists excellent for solving problems? They have all the solutions!
