QBench October 12, 2026 Product Release Notes

This release gives every part of your lab room to work its own way. Status Workflows now run a workflow for each Assay. Analytics charts date your activity by the right object. Lab admins can open QBench Studio, and worksheets built on large Key-Value Stores load only what they need.

Are you a QBench customer with ideas for new features? We’d love to hear them. Use the "Submit Feedback" link in the Help menu to submit your ideas and vote on feature requests. The requests with the most votes get considered first in our roadmap planning.

Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)

  • Multiple Active Status Workflows: Give each Assay its own Status Workflow. See details below.
  • Per-Object Date Created in Analytics: Filter and trend charts by the creation date of the object you're counting. See details below.

Status Workflows

Multiple Active Status Workflows: Run a separate Status Workflow for each of your testing pipelines. Each Test follows the workflow assigned to its Assay, so your microbiology and environmental work can each move through their own statuses.

  • Assign Assays to a workflow in the workflow editor, or set one workflow to cover "All unassigned assays." Only one workflow can hold that scope.
  • An Assay belongs to only one active workflow at a time. Assays not covered under a workflow allow every transition.
  • Changes to a workflow's Assays take effect when you publish. If in-flight Tests sit in a status the workflow doesn't have, you map each old status to a new one before anything moves. Locked Tests are skipped and listed.
  • The workflows list page shows each workflow's associated Assays. The Assay Details page has a tab naming the workflow that governs that Assay.
  • Your current active workflow becomes your "All unassigned assays" workflow on release day, so nothing changes until you add another.
  • Only admins can assign Assays to a Workflow.

Analytics Plus/Pro

Per-Object Date Created in Analytics: When a chart pulls from more than one object, you can now pick which object's creation date it uses. New date fields for Tests, Assays, Orders, Samples, and Batches sit alongside the shared Date Created field. They use your lab's own terms, such as "Date Created (Test)" or "Date Created (Study)." A chart counting Tests by Assay and filtered to last month now counts the Tests created last month. Before, it used each Assay's creation date and often returned nothing.

  • Existing charts, metrics, and dashboard filters that used the shared Date Created field now use the matching object's date and keep their numbers.
  • A few charts that had been dating results by an Assay's or Customer's creation date now show corrected numbers.

QBench Studio

QBench Studio for Lab Admins: QBench Studio is QBench's AI assistant. Open it from inside QBench and describe what you need in plain language. Studio helps you build worksheets, calculations, and Report templates. Lab admins can now open Studio in labs where it is enabled.

  • Only users with admin access can open Studio.
  • When the "Allow QBench Studio to Access Customer Data" setting is off, Studio cannot read your lab's data.
  • A user who loses admin access or is deleted loses Studio access on their next request.

✨ Contact your account manager to enable QBench Studio for your instance.

Worksheets

Faster Worksheets With Key-Value Store Lookups: Worksheets that look up values from a Key-Value Store now load only the values their formulas use, instead of the store's entire contents. Large stores no longer slow down opening, saving, or recalculating a worksheet.

  • If a lookup still can't be fetched after one automatic retry, the calculation stops with a visible error. An incomplete value is never saved.
  • Saving a store entry larger than the 16 MB limit, in QBench or through the v1 API, now fails right away with an error that names the limit.
  • This improvement is rolling out to labs gradually after the release.

A special treat for those who read all the way here:
