This release makes your records easier to hand off and harder to get wrong. Export a record's full history as a branded PDF for your auditors, load Customer assignments onto Sources in bulk, and help Customer Portal users choose Samples on purpose.
Are you a QBench customer with ideas for new features? We’d love to hear them. Use the "Submit Feedback" link in the Help menu to submit your ideas and vote on feature requests. The requests with the most votes get considered first in our roadmap planning.
Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)
- Printable Audit Trails: Export a record's full history to a branded PDF for auditors. See details below.
- Customer Assignment in Source Import: Assign Customers to Sources in bulk from the import spreadsheet. See details below.
- Samples Unchecked by Default in the Customer Portal: Portal users choose which Samples receive each Assay or Panel. See details below.
History
Printable Audit Trails: Hand auditors a complete, verifiable copy of a record’s history without screenshots or copied rows. Click Export to PDF on the History tab of any Order, Sample, or Test to download a print-ready document with every entry, in the same order the tab shows them.
- Choose the scope on an Order. The All sub-tab exports the Order’s history along with that of all its Samples and Tests, deleted ones included. The Order sub-tab exports only the Order’s own history.
- Every page is labeled. Each page carries a letterhead with the QBench logo, your lab’s logo, and the line “Generated by QBench for [your company] by [the person who exported it].” The footer shows your company name, the record, and “Page X of Y.”
- The first page summarizes the record. It states the record the document covers, the Order’s Customer, the total number of entries, and when the document was generated. For Orders and Tests, it also shows the completion date, or “Not set” if the record isn’t complete. The document confirms it is the complete, unfiltered history as of that moment.
- Exports hold up to 5,000 entries.
- Anyone who can view the History tab can export it. Your lab’s logo comes from your Customer Portal settings. If none is on file, the document prints with the QBench logo alone.
✨ Available for all instances on November 2. To enable it before then, contact your account manager.
Imports
Load your Sources and their Customer assignments in one pass instead of linking Customers one at a time. The Source import template now includes a customer_ids column that accepts one or more Customer IDs per Source, separated by commas (for example, 12,15). It works for both new and existing Sources.
- Imports only add Customers. Existing assignments are never removed. A blank
customer_ids cell leaves that Source’s Customers unchanged, and the rest of the row still imports. - Use Customer IDs, not names. The column doesn’t recognize Customer names.
- Bad rows don’t stop the import. When you import from the Sources page, rows with unrecognized Customer, Project, or Source IDs are skipped and the other rows still import. The import window lists each skipped row with its reason and explains how to re-import the corrected rows.
- Exports round-trip. Source exports now include the
customer_ids column, so you can re-import an exported file without reformatting it.
Customer Portal
Samples Unchecked by Default in the Customer Portal: Assigning an Assay or Panel in the Customer Portal no longer risks applying it to every Sample in an Order by accident. Samples now start unchecked, so users select each one deliberately. This applies to the 3-panel Customer Portal layout.
