QBench June 8, 2025 Product Release Notes

This release introduces enhancements across reporting, data integrity, portal workflows, and regulatory compliance. Whether you're deleting outdated Batches, uploading Samples in bulk, or automating COA submission, this update helps your lab move faster and more accurately—with less manual cleanup.

Are you a QBench customer with ideas for new features? We’d love to hear them. Use the "Submit Feedback" link in your user dropdown menu to submit your ideas and vote on feature requests. The requests with the most votes get considered first in our roadmap planning.

Customer Requests (You asked, we delivered!)

  • PrintDocs for Samples: Generate PrintDocs at the Sample and Test level. See details below.
  • Documents Tab for Sources in CPv2: Upload and manage Source files directly in the portal. See details below.
  • Spreadsheet Sample Upload in CPv2: Portal users can now create and update multiple Samples simultaneously using a single spreadsheet import. See details below.
  • Custom Sample ID on Plate Map: View Custom Sample IDs directly in the Plate Map for easier identification. See details below.
  • Metrc COA Compliance: Automatically send Certificates of Analysis to Metrc. See details below.

Customer Portal v2

  • Documents Tab for Sources in CPv2: We’ve added a dedicated “Documents” tab to the Source detail page in CPv2. This gives Customers a centralized area to upload and manage documentation related to their Sources—such as regulatory documents, specifications, or Certificates of Origin.
  • Spreadsheet Upload for Sample Management: Customers using CPv2 can now create or update Samples in bulk by uploading a spreadsheet. The import supports new fields, updates to existing Samples, and allows spreadsheet templates for streamlined uploads—all from the portal.

PrintDocs & Reporting

  • PrintDocs at the Sample and Test Level: Admins can now configure PrintDocs to be available at the Sample and Test level. This supports use cases where labs need standalone documentation for each Sample—such as chain-of-custody reports or individualized certificates.

Plate Maps

  • View Custom Sample ID in Plate Map: Users working with customized identifiers can now view the Custom Sample ID directly in the Plate Map view. This allows for quicker Sample verification and reduces identification errors during plate setup.

Worksheets

  • Named Cell Stability on Edit: Named cells in Dynamic Worksheets now maintain their references when rows or columns are added or removed. This prevents errors caused by misaligned named ranges and improves the reliability of calculated fields and formulas.

Integrations

  • Metrc COA Compliance: Regulatory updates in several U.S. states require COAs to be sent alongside test results via API. QBench’s native Metrc integration now supports automatic inclusion of COAs in the payload—keeping your lab compliant in California, Michigan, Massachusetts, and more. To enable this, admins will enter a new value in their Parameter Store:
    - Key Name: METRC_SEND_SAMPLE_COA
    - True Value: TRUE

Batch Management

  • Delete Operation for Batches: API v2 now supports deleting batches. Every deletion creates a history entry indicating it was initiated by the API client, enhancing traceability and audit compliance.

A special treat for those who read all the way here:
Why was the microbiology team always calm?
Because they had good culture.
